This is our little baby grand piano by Welmar made circa 1959 according to its serial number 53292. It is finished in a mahogany french polished case, and would make a fantastic centrepiece or addition to any modern or traditional styled property. This Welmar is particularly small at only 4 foot 11 inches long and 4 foot 9 inches wide and thus is ideal for those who are perhaps restricted on space but do not want to settle for an upright piano.  Overall the case work is in good condition. The action has a medium to light touch and play nicely throughout the scale, with a controlled medium tone, typical of a baby grand of this size and era.  These pianos are very similar to the Bluthner Style 4 and this is likely to be as a result of Welmar starting out as Bluthner’s UK distributor in the UK.

Welmar made thousands of pianos in the UK and are renowned as one of the best piano makers ever to have come out of Britain.  A lot of Welmar pianos in the 1930’s were near exact copies of Bluthner pianos, as they were originally suppliers of Bluthner pianos in the UK.
